The FT Business team wanted to bring life and colour into the pensions industry, which is sometimes described as being a bit dull by outsiders.
They came up with the name "Pensions Gym" and wanted designs for two sites: an affiliate marketing and subscription sponsored news site called "Pensions News" and a free e-learning site called "Pensions Gym".
The site was a big success and FT Business decided to roll out a suite of similar "gyms", the first being "Adviser Gym".
